IMPACT SUMMARY
OVERVIEW
TOTEM is a large-scale installation created in partnership with artist GMUNK.
The audiovisual journey guides participants through a ceremony of light, form, sound, and spirit. At each stage of the experience the guide and the pathway inform each other – a symbiotic relationship is forged so that with each step they evolve together.
TOTEM was nominated for a 2023 Webby Award in the “Immersive Installation or Experience” category.
3D SIMULATION: Our internal 3D animation and graphics team developed Unreal Engine simulations to imagine the site-specific installation and visitor interactions.
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: Our Quasar remote robot software allows for coordinated movements and lighting control in real-time.
This allows for dynamic and interactive choreography. Built to easily introduce live sensor data or sound responsive generative visuals.
HARDWARE ENGINEERING: Our internal industrial design team created a prototype in Solidworks CAD before 3D printing and assembling the components of the first version.
